A meeting point for the brave! | A luminous 6th of February …

Once again, the warmth of friendship and the strength of our commitments overcame the bitter cold of winter. Land InSights' annual get-together opened with the solemn strains of the voice and drum of Christian Laveau, from the Huron-Wendat Nation. Rémi Castonguay, a classical guitarist hailing from Wématoci, provided us a brilliant demonstration of his talent as an accomplished instrumentalist. Two splendid ways for Land InSights to convey our message that anything can come to pass for those who know how to work and dream. This most pleasant of evenings continued in the same vein. The mood lent itself to cordiality and new alliances were forged in a most congenial atmosphere.

Now, we have a festival to bring to fruition. Working on it, we'll make new friends for the coming year.

National and International Profile

The mandate of Land InSights is to promote First Nations cultural products in Canada and abroad and to create meeting opportunities and fruitful exchanges for Aboriginals. For 13 years now, Land InSights has been organizing in collaboration with many partners, a festival known as Montreal's First Peoples' Festival . Since 1995, the organization has been developing direct links with people responsible for Aboriginal film festivals in Canada, New York and San Francisco. As early as 1998, producers and artists from South America, Denmark, New-Zealand and France took part in the festival. Furthermore, foreign journalists from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the United States and China covered the activities of the festival. In the fall of 2002, upon invitation of the Norwegian government, 26 artists and accompanists presented a series of 5 Aboriginal shows in Norway within the scope of a Canadian cultural week.
